Six Of The World’s Most Expensive Foods - Part 2

Let’s continue our list with the most expensive delicacies in world. In place no. 4 we find Fugu fish, maybe Japan's most famous dish. Fugu, also known as Japanese puffer fish, blowfish, or globe fish, is a seasonal delicacy in the country's capital. Tokyo's fugu restaurants proudly show the latest bulbous catch in highly visible tanks in the winter when fugu are at their chubbiest, later to be dished up as fugu sushi, sashimi, or in hot pots. So, what makes fugu so appealing? Much of the intrigue stems from the notion that eating the prized fugu fish can lead in death! A fugu dinner course with fugu sashimi, fugu nabe, and other puffer fish food would set you back between 5000 and 30,000 yen (about $60-$360).

In place no 5 we find Kopi Luwak. Kopi Luwak is a coffee from Indonesia that has been digested by the Asian palm civet. The civet is a cat-like animal that prowls Bali's jungles at night, consuming ripe coffee cherries and excreting the beans. After that, the beans are collected, washed, and roasted. What's the end result? Kopi Luwak, often known as civet cat coffee or cat feces coffee, is a type of coffee made by a civet cat. For its unique processing and high price, Kopi Luwak was and continues to be quite popular. A cup of Luwak coffee typically costs between $ 35 and $ 100, with a pound costing between $ 100 and $ 600. This is 20 to 60 times the cost of a typical cup of coffee!

In the 6th place we find Swallow's Nest Soup. In Chinese cuisine, bird's nest soup is one of the most well-known, but often contentious, dishes. Many individuals are prepared to spend small fortunes on this soup because they believe it will help them stay young, live a long and healthy life, and have a strong body. This soup's nests aren't just discovered in trees that have been abandoned by its owners. The swiftlet, a little bird found in Southeast Asia, made these delectable bird's nests. The swiftlet lives in dark caverns and uses echo to navigate, similar to bats. The swiftlet, on the other hand, builds its nest out of its own gummy saliva, which is produced by glands under the tongue. Bird's nests are among the most costly animal products consumed by humans, with costs ranging from roughly $3,000 per pound ($6,600/kg) depending on grading!

Taste is something subjective so is price…
